SOLD OUT – We’re relaunching the ship after three years – on April Fool’s Day and only two weeks after St. Paddy’s Day. We hope you’ll join us to welcome back Hazel Grey to the Celtic Folk stage. Na Seanachie will be taking the stage for the middle set and Get Reel is the opener.
The evening is at Hickey’s Place in a concert format (attentive audience) in a pub style setting, with three acts, and the ICS bar (cash or Stripe). Note there is no food this time due to the short lead-time.
It will be another great show. Previous concerts have sold out, so don’t wait to get your tickets – you’ve been warned. Tickets via the Eventbrite website or the secure embedded checkout at the bottom of the page.
Hazel Grey
Hazel Grey is a husband and wife Indie-Celtic-folk duo who have been writing, recording, touring and performing together throughout the US and western Canada for over 25 years. Along with their strong vocal harmonies, Pete’s percussive acoustic playing is well complemented by Josanna’s wide range of instruments, including accordion, whistles, flute, mandolin, and percussion.
“Rainy Day Parade” – their most recent album of all original songs under the band name Hazel Grey is available on all streaming and download sites and on CD.
Na Seanachie (The Storyteller)
Kevin Friel hails from West of Scotland, moving to Alberta 9 years ago after a decade in the West of Ireland. Kevin has been singing around the Scottish and Irish music scene for many years, picking up an ‘eclectic’ mix of songs n stories along the road.
For this show, Dan Mills will be accompanying, Dan is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer from St. Johns, Newfoundland. Dan has made his mark on the folk and traditional music scenes – teaching, playing sessions and performing alongside a range of musicians.
Get Reel
Hailing from the East Coast of De Winton and the North Shores of Calgary, our jolly ship’s crew will explore a lively set of songs and fiddle tunes from the East Coast, Irish, Scottish, Folk, and other Celtic traditions.
Get Reel is Doug Wagner (vocals, harmonies, bodhran, guitar, and fiddle) and Greg Black (vocals, harmonies, guitar, electric bass, and octave mandolin).
Over the last 15 years, Get Reel has performed in numerous venues around Alberta, including the Water Valley Celtic Festival, the Irish Cultural Society, Okotoks, and the High River Library. We are also the house band for Celtic Folk.
When the fog is just right, you can almost smell the ocean, see the shipwrecks, hear the crashing waves and a tiny trace of fiddling in the distance far behind him.
